Six Hour Workshops
Simple Star
Simple Star is a great project to learn my paper sew and fold technique for making mini lone star quilts. Simple Star is for quilters with some paper piecing experience. The paper fold and sew technique starts with paper pieced rows. The folded paper then perfectly matches the rows together. When adding each fabric piece individually many designs are possible ranging from the traditional pattern of concentric rings to a charm quilt with every diamond a different fabric. I will provide the pattern in 2 different sizes and the student may choose the mini 8 inch lone star block or the large 19 inch block. The directions are the same for both sizes.
Supply list for both sizes of lone star blocks provided with contract.
Each student will purchase a kit/pattern from Lorraine.
Each student must purchase or own the book Little Lone Star Quilts.
4 Patch Star
Fewer rows make the 4 Patch Star easier than the Simple Star. It is a good project for confident beginners to learn the paper fold and sew technique. Experienced quilters will have time to add a scrappy border to their lone star block. The pattern for 4 patch star is available in 2 different sizes and the student may choose the 8 inch block or the 12 inch block. The directions are the same for both sizes.

Three or Six Hour Workshops
Mini Postage Stamp Quilt
All skill levels will have fun exchanging fabric and learning hints for making great scrap quilts while they make a tiny postage stamp quilt. As a six hour workshop, quilters will have time to tie their little 3 ½” by 4 ½” quilt and learn to make a narrow 1/8” binding.
Supply list for postage stamp quilt provided with contract.
Each student will purchase a kit/pattern from Lorraine.
Paper Piecing Miniature Blocks
Learn the tricks to making the perfect miniature blocks. Paper piecing patterns will be available for all skill levels. As a six hour workshop, quilters will finish four or nine mini blocks to make a little sampler and learn the technique to add a narrow 1/8” binding.

Fees and Contract Requirements
Fees
All workshops require a kit/pattern fee of $10 for each student.
Simple Star workshop and 4 Patch Star workshop require each student to own or purchase the book Little Lone Star Quilts.
Fees good through 2010.
Contract Requirements
Contracting group is responsible for all round trip travel expenses. This includes air fare from Springfield, MO, luggage fees, shipping fees, insurance fees and airport parking fees if flying. Arrangements will be made by the contracting group for transportation from the airport. If driving it includes mileage (paid at the IRS allowable rate at time of trip) and tolls. Travel expenses may be shared by groups for multi city trips.
Meals will be provided or $40/day including travel days. Special dietary requirements (detailed in contract) followed for all provided meals.
Lodging in a non smoking room in a hotel with an inside entrance or a non smoking home with a private room and bath.
